01 - Preheat the oven to 400°F.
02 - Remove loose papery layers from the garlic bulb, keeping it intact, then slice about 1/4 inch off the top to expose the cloves.
03 - Place garlic bulb on aluminum foil, drizzle with olive oil allowing it to seep into cloves, and sprinkle with salt and optional pepper.
04 - Wrap the bulb tightly in foil, lay on a baking sheet, and roast for 35 to 40 minutes until cloves are soft, golden, and aromatic.
05 - Allow the bulb to cool slightly, then squeeze the roasted cloves out of their skins for use.
